A Frankel half-brother to Godolphin's mighty sprinter and now exciting first-crop sire Blue Point is among the beautifully bred newcomers at Haydock on Saturday.

The juvenile named Blue Antares, who lines up in the Zachary Daniels EBF Maiden Stakes (3.50) over a mile, was bred by Oak Lodge Bloodstock and is the tenth foal out of the placed Royal Applause mare Scarlett Rose, a relation to several winners including multiple Group scorer Tumbleweed Ridge.

Blue Antares is in turn related to three winners including Blue Point. The son of Shamardal won 11 times for Charlie Appleby and the boys in blue, with a victory in the Gimcrack and placings in the Middle Park and Dewhurst among his achievements at two.

Blue Point progressed significantly with age and two Group wins and a third in the Commonwealth Cup at three were followed by a first top-level win in the King's Stand Stakes the following year, besting a certain Battaash in the process.

At five he landed a treble of Meydan Group races, including the Al Quoz Sprint, before emulating the great Choisir in landing the Royal Ascot sprint double of the King's Stand and Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

He retired subsequently to stand at Darley's Kildangan Stud at an opening fee of €45,000. His first yearlings are selling this year.

Among his half-brother's nine rivals is Arkendale, a colt from the final crop of the great Pivotal and out of a Galileo half-sister to Dewhurst winner Intense Focus and to the dam of Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Skitter Scatter.

The earlier British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes (1.30) also has a number of intriguing newcomers including Cherry. The Juddmonte homebred is by Dubawi and out of the stakes-winning and Ribblesdale Stakes second Mori, herself a daughter of Frankel and the operation's brilliant multiple top-level winner Midday.

Denford Stud homebred Eastern Empress is another to catch the eye as a daughter of Dubawi and a half-sister to two stakes winners as well as the dam of St Leger hero Galileo Chrome. They are out of the stakes-placed Darshaan mare Intrigued, a sister to Denford's wonderful producer Approach.

She is the dam of Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and Prix Jean Romanet scorer Coronet as well as Derby Trial winner and Irish Derby and St Leger second Midas Touch. Intrigued and Approach are also related to Poule d'Essai des Poulains hero Aussie Rules.

The Blandford Bloodstock Maiden Fillies' Stakes (4.15) at Newmarket also offers up a treat for bloodstock enthusiasts. Chief among the newcomers is Cheveley Park Stud homebred Rouen. The daughter of Intello is the second foal out of the Listed-placed winner Troarn, a full-sister to European champion three-year-old and promising young sire Almanzor.

Another is Blue Diamond Stud homebred Amazing, a daughter of Siyouni and a half-sister to Listed winner Fourhometwo. Amazing is out of the winning King's Best mare Missy O' Gwaun, a half-sister to Group/Graded winners Knight To Behold, Cosmo Meadow and Beauty O' Gwaun and in turn out of a Sadler's Wells half-sister to St Leger winner Millenary.
