Derby winner Masar is the latest stallion to have his first foal on the ground, a chestnut colt out of the six-time winner Dubai One born at Woodpark Stud in County Meath.

Dubai One, a daughter of Exceed And Excel, is a half-sister to Meydan Group 2 scorer and Sheema Classic fourth Prize Money and hails from the family of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Crimplene.

Patrick Byrne, general manager of Godolphin Ireland, said of the new arrival: “We're delighted to have our first Masar foal on the ground. A first foal out of this mare, the colt has plenty of size and scope, with an athletic profile and attractive features.

"He is correct with a great outlook - we're looking forward to seeing more of them.”

Masar, who is himself by Derby hero and leading sire New Approach, defeated subsequent Group 2 scorer Invincible Army on his debut at two before finishing third in the Chesham and beating subsequent Classic hero Romanised in the Solario Stakes.

Following a third behind Happily in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and a run at the Breeders' Cup, Masar stepped up from his three-year-old debut at Meydan with an emphatic win in the Craven Stakes - Roaring Lion was nine lengths adrift - and then finished third in the 2,000 Guineas.

The chestnut's finest hour came when carrying the Godolphin blue silks to victory in the Derby, Masar becoming the third winner of the Epsom Classic from the brilliant Urban Sea family.

He ran twice at four before retiring to Dalham Hall Stud, where he stands for a fee of £14,000.

The six-year-old had 122 mares in foal for his first season, including top-level victress Lady Marian - the dam of New Approach's Group 2 victor Loxley - and Yorkshire Oaks heroine Punctilious.
