Ferris takes up role as new chief executive of Weatherbys Ireland
He has been with the Irish subsidiary less than a year
Weatherbys Ireland has appointed a new chief executive following the departure of Ronan Murphy from the role.
Russell Ferris was internally promoted having previously served the company as operations director and was responsible for the General Stud Book in Ireland and commercial operations.
He previously held positions as director for Ireland at At The Races and spent five years as managing director of Limerick racecourse.
Ferris said: “This is a very exciting opportunity and I thank Ronan for all the excellent work he has done in recent years. With my family I have been involved in racing and breeding for many years and am naturally delighted to have been asked to head Weatherbys Ireland.
"The business continues to move forward and the coming months will see us launch the General Stud Book online registration platform.”
Weatherbys Ireland GSB was incorporated in 2002 with responsibility for General Stud Book registrations, administration and publishing in Ireland, and is based in Naas, County Kildare.
