Ruthless approach paying off for Betfair founder Andrew Black at Chasemore Farm
Tom Peacock speaks to the successful breeder about his plans and new ventures
Little more than a mile away from Chelsea’s plush Surrey training ground, Chasemore Farm is making its own entrance to bloodstock’s Premier League with a stand-out year both on the track and in the ring.
The €500,000 sale of a Frankel yearling colt out of Kenzadargent at Arqana, allied with the Prestige Stakes victory of homebred Kingman filly Boomer is the result of more than a decade’s worth of development by Andrew Black and his wife Jane.
"It was the last time I spent decent money on a broodmare, the product of quite a lot of research and it was a Frankel, so that was a lot to spend, and it was nice to get paid on that," recalls Black.
