One might imagine that a sprint champion and totemic sire of the future would announce his arrival with all the bravado of a lead singer in a stadium rock band.
When Sir Mark Prescott first met Pivotal, however, he was a bit of a wallflower.
"He was shown to me at Cheveley Park, I could take you to the field now, and they were very kind and sent me five or six lovely yearlings but I had the choice from a bunch," the trainer recalls with characteristic acuity.
