Fantastic five-timer for Flemensfirth

Waiting Patiently joins party with Listed chase win at Kempton

Invitation Only jump the last en route to winning the Grade 3 novice chase at Punchestown

Racegoers at Punchestown on Saturday could be forgiven for thinking they were seeing double as Flemensfirth was responsible for no less than four of the seven winners on the card - a remarkable feat,  especially considering the quality of those races.

Invitation Only got the ball rolling for his sire when the Willie Mullins-trained gelding kicked clear for a breakthrough stakes win in the Grade 3 novice chase, which saw him priced up at single-figure odds for the feature novice chases at the Cheltenham Festival.

Glencairn View, a McCarthy family homebred, was then given a confident ride by Liam Quinlan to land the historic Amateur National, formerly run as the Conyngham Cup.

The Jessica Harrington-trained Impact Factor then brought up a treble for the sire when kept up to his work by Robbie Power in the maiden hurdle, before the Mullins-trained Relegate stayed on strongly in the bumper to complete the four-timer.

Waiting Patiently also joined the party with a Listed chase win at Kempton, a second stakes win for his sire on the day. He, too, now looks primed for the Festival in March.

Waiting Patiently was bred by Vincent Finn out of his Beneficial mare Rossavon, a cross which has thrown up five winners from ten runners to date including Grade 1 staying hurdle winner One Track Mind and the Listed-placed novice hurdler Ainchea.

Flemensfirth, a resident of Beeches Stud in County Waterford, embarked on his 21st covering season this year at a career-high fee of €15,000.

The 26-year-old son of Alleged is well represented at Fairyhouse on Sunday, with a pair of particularly well-bred debutants set to contest the bumper
