Dream run for Oasis continues as Polydream lands Group 1 sprint

Oasis Dream: en route to winning the Nunthorpe Stakes at York
1 of 1

Polydream's victory in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on Saturday afternoon continues the hot streak of form for progeny of Oasis Dream.

The Juddmonte stallion is now the sire of 16 individual top-flight winners after his three-year-old daughter grabbed victory from James Garfield in the dying strides of the six-and-a-half furlong contest.

Her top-level breakthrough comes on the back of some scorching results for Oasis Dream's two-year-old crop with Pretty Pollyanna's success in the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes followed by Shine So Bright finishing third in the Group 3 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood on Thursday.

Pretty Pollyanna is one of the favourites for next year's 1,000 Guineas after she ran away with the six-furlong contest at Newmarket's July meeting and could have a chance at becoming her sire's 17th Group 1 winner in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh next month.

On the Friday of Ascot's King George meeting, Oasis Dream was responsible for both juvenile winners. First up was winning debutante Ceratonia in the seven-furlong fillies' novice stakes for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin. Out of Rumh, Ceratonia is a half-sister to Thursday's Group 1 Nassau Stakes winner Wild Illusion and could add further Group success to her family in the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

A quickfire juvenile double for the 18-year-old son of Green Desert was brought up by the Richard Hannon-trained Production in the six-furlong colts' maiden. Bred by Sun Kingdom out of the Listed-winning Exceed And Excel mare Pure Excellence, Production made a winning debut and looks destined for better things.

Polydream is one of three stakes winners this year from the 2015 crop of July Cup hero Oasis Dream, with the Listed-winning pair Imaging and Mrs Gallagher already on the mark for their sire earlier in the season.

His latest Group 1 winner is a product of several generations of Wertheimer breeding as a daughter of their homebred Listed winner Polygreen, by Green Tune.

Polygreen is a half-sister to Perfect Blessings, a Listed-placed daughter of Kheleyf, while Green Tune is another Wertheimer homebred who won the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and Prix d'Ispahan.

Polydream is a half-sister to five winners including Evaporation, a Listed-winning daughter of Red Ransom. Polygreen's two-year-old filly by Invincible Spirit was purchased by Meridian International and David Redvers for €400,000 at the Arqana August Yearling Sale.
