Deep Impact progeny catch the eye among initial JRHA Select Sale entries
A total of 243 yearlings and 239 foals have been catalogued for the Japan Racing Horse Association (JRHA) Select Sale on Monday, July 9, and Tuesday, July 10, at Northern Horse Park.
Among the intriguing lots on offer at this initial stage are a pair of colt foals by Frankel and Garswood, and a yearling filly by Golden Horn out of dual Group 1-winning miler Pearl Of Africa.
26 yearlings and 14 foals by Deep Impact are catalogued, while 14 yearlings and 15 foals represent Heart's Cry, the sire of Grade 1 winner Yoshida.
Japanese-bred horses have been running well at international level recently with Saxon Warrior winning the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket and already being talked of as a potential Triple Crown contender. Study Of Man, another son of Deep Impact, could also line up at Epsom.
On the same day as the 2,000 Guineas, Yoshida, a four-year-old Heart's Cry colt who was bought at the 2015 JRHA Select Sale, won the Grade 1 Old Forester Turf Classic at Churchill Downs and could go for the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Meanwhile in Australia, Tosen Stardom, another son of Deep Impact who was bought at 2012 JRHA Select Sale, won the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield in October and the Emirates Stakes at Flemington in November, both Group 1 contests. Brave Smash, by Tosen Phantom, also captured the Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield in February.
