Cityscape the latest sire to get off mark with a debut winner
Ballymount scores on his second start in France on Sunday
Overbury Stud sire Cityscape is the latest freshman to get off the mark with a first winner after son Ballymount scored on his second start over 6f at Senonnes-Pouance in France on Sunday.
Ballymount, trained by Eoghan O'Neill for wife Melissa, had finished fourth on debut over 5½f at Chateaubriant last month.
It was a one-two-three for progeny of first-season sires at Senonnes-Pouance as Ballymount beat Swiss Bank, a colt by Swiss Spirit, a short head into second, with First Name Terms, a son of Havana Gold, in third.
The gelded Ballymount is the second foal bred by G Booth and J Porteous out of the placed Amadeus Wolf mare Symphony Star, a half-sister to Jersey Stakes second Deposer.
Catridge Farm Stud sold Ballymount as a foal at Tattersalls to Torard House Stud for 5,700gns and he was resold by Torard House Stud to O'Neill for €14,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale.
Cityscape, an 11-year-old Selkirk half-brother to high-class sprinter Bated Breath, won six races including a wide-margin victory in the Dubai Duty Free at Meydan. He also finished second at the highest level four times, including when beaten just a neck in the Hong Kong Mile.
He stands at Overbury Stud at a fee of £4,500.
