Charm Spirit to return to Bonneval in 2018
The son of Invincible Spirit spends alternate years at Tweenhills
Charm Spirit will return to the Aga Khan’s French base, Haras de Bonneval in 2018, for his fourth breeding season in 2018, as part of the agreement initiated between Qatar Bloodstock and the Aga Khan Studs in 2018.
"With his credentials, it is no surprise that he has proved very popular with breeders on both sides of the Channel and he has produced an exceptional first crop of yearlings," said David Redvers, director of Qatar Bloodstock.
"Charm Spirit produced quality first foals," added Georges Rimaud, manager of the Aga Khan Studs in France. "We have several of his yearlings ourselves, they are lovely individuals and we are delighted with them."
Charm Spirit was born and raised at Haras de Bonneval’s neighbouring stud farm, Ecurie des Monceaux.
A top-class miler, Charm Spirit won six of his nine starts, including three consecutive Group 1s at three: the Prix Jean Prat, the Prix du Moulin, and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, while he was third in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere as a juvenile.
Charm Spirit will stand alongside Siyouni, current leading sire in France, and Dariyan.
His fee will be announced later this year.
Harzand's brother Haripour off the mark
Elsewhere for the Aga Khan, his homebred Haripour - a brother to last year's Derby hero Harzand - got off the mark on his fifth attempt in a 1m5f maiden at Navan on Saturday, running out an easy
five and a half length winner.
The son of Shamardal holds entries for the Queen's Vase, Irish Derby and Irish St Leger.
