Ceiling Kitty's penultimate foal strikes on her debut
Chasemore Farm homebred is trained by Tom Dascombe
Formidable Kitt, the penultimate foal out of Queen Mary Stakes heroine Ceiling Kitty, got her career off to the perfect start on Wednesday when she landed the 5f fillies maiden at Newmarket.
The daughter of Invincible Spirit, trained by Tom Dascombe and ridden by Richard Kingscote, made all in the contest and held off the challenge of Take Shelter to win by half a length.
Formidable Kitt is a homebred for Betfair founder Andrew Black and runs in the colours of his Chasemore Farm operation in Surrey. She is the second foal out of Ceiling Kitty, who gave Black a day to remember when she won the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2012.
She is a half-sister to the winning Eartha Kitt and is from the family of Japanese 1,000 Guineas scorer Jewler and Grade 3 winner One Carat.
Ceiling Kitty was a daughter of Red Clubs out of the Tale Of The Cat mare Baldovina, who was picked up by Black for £17,000 out of a Class 6 claiming stakes at Lingfield having finished third in the race.
She died in February of last year following complications foaling. Her resulting and final foal is a yearling colt by Camelot.
