Cathryn Sophia to visit Pioneerof The Nile in 2017
SF Bloodstock bought her for $1,400,000 at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale
Kentucky Oaks winner Cathryn Sophia will be covered by Pioneerof The Nile next year, having sold as a broodmare prospect for $1,400,000 to SF Bloodstock at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale.
Tom Ryan, who represents SF Bloodstock, told the Daily Racing Form: "She's a beautiful mare, and brilliant. We saw her in Florida this winter.
"You hope that you could ever own a Kentucky Oaks winner, and tonight we do, so we're very excited about it."
The three-year-old Street Boss filly raced nine times at two and three on dirt, and her biggest win came in the Kentucky Oaks in at Churchill Downs in May when seeing off Land Over Sea by two and three-quarter lengths.
At the start of this year she won two Grade 2 races at Gulfstream Park and was also third in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes. Following on from the Kentucky Oaks, she finished third in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes.
Pioneerof The Nile is best known as the sire of American Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup Classic winner American Pharoah, as well this years Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Classic Empire.
The WinStar Farm resident will stand at a fee of $110,000 in 2017 and is fully booked for next year.
