Catalogue issued for Goffs UK August Sale, one-time source of Tiger Roll
A total of 295 entries consisting of high-class British and Irish point-to-pointers, Flat and jumps horses in training, and a selection of National Hunt stores will be offered at the Goffs UK Doncaster August Sale on Wednesday, August 8.
The auction can boast a very notable graduate in the shape of Tiger Roll, who was bought by Nigel Hawke from the Darley draft for just £10,000 in 2013 before he was sold on to current trainer Gordon Elliott.
Included in the catalogue are more than 45 pointers and, for the first time, the sale will include a select session of 15 point-to-pointers and form horses, all of whom will be sold with a pre-sale veterinary certificate.
An eclectic horses in training catalogue features entries from the likes of Godolphin, Henry De Bromhead, John Gosden, Jonjo O'Neill, Karl Burke, Kevin Ryan, Mick Channon, Micky Hammond, Paul Nicholls, Richard Fahey, Richard Hughes, Shadwell Stud, Tim Easterby and Willie Mullins.
Goffs UK managing director Tony Williams said: “For a one-day sale, the August Sale is punching well above its weight on the track having produced three Grade 1 winners and a Grand National winner in Tiger Roll in the last 15 months.
"That’s a fantastic achievement for any sale and it highlights the consistent quality of horse that can be found at Doncaster horses-in-training sales.
“This year we have some classy horses entered in the sale, particularly point-to-pointers, and that has led us to introduce the select P2P/form horse session into this sale, a session that has been well received by vendors and buyers alike at our January and Spring sales.”
