Bobby's Kitten off the mark with nine mares scanned in foal
Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint hero stands at Lanwades Stud
Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner Bobby's Kitten, a new recruit to Lanwades Stud in Newmarket this year, has had nine of his first book of mares scanned in foal.
Among the pregnant mares are Mullein, the winner of five races including the Listed Flying Fillies' Stakes at Pontefract; Miss Anabaa, winner of the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes; Matron Of Honour, a half-sister to Casamento; the winning Dubawi mare Beautiful View; and Lanwades maiden mares Sound Of The Sea, by Acclamation out of Summer Night, a half-sister to ten winners including four black-type winners, and Alle Stelle, a Sea The Stars granddaughter of champion middle-distance mare Alborada.
Bobby's Kitten, the first stallion son of multiple US champion turf sire Kitten's Joy in Europe, was originally trained by Chad Brown in America and, after being switched to Dermot Weld, landed the Listed Cork Stakes by eight and a half lengths last March.
"We are delighted with the response to Bobby's Kitten from mare owners all over Europe" said Lanwades owner Kirsten Rausing.
"Mr and Mrs Kenneth Ramsey, who bred and owned Bobby's Kitten, have sent over ten mares - all due to foal to Kitten's Joy - from Kentucky to visit [the stallion] and Lanwades is supporting him with a significant number of our best mares, and we have nice mares visiting also from Ireland and France.
"We are very grateful to the breeders at home and abroad who support this exciting young horse."
Bobby's Kitten is standing at Lanwades at a fee of £12,500.
