Curlin to be visited by star mare in 2018
US Grade 1 winner Constellation is a daughter of Bellamy Road
Curlin - the joint-world champion in 2008 with New Approach - is set to cover star mare Constellation during the 2018 breeding season.
Constellation made sure she was the brightest star at Christmas last year when winning the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita on December 26.
"She's four, turning five, and already a Grade 1 winner," Alex Solis of Solis/Litt Bloodstock - which manages owner LNJ Foxwoods' bloodstock interests - told the Daily Racing Form.
"Her last few starts weren't up to par, so she'll be bred next year. Her form was good until the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. These older fillies can tail off, and they'll tell you when they're done."
Curlin is a dual Grade 1-winning son of Smart Strike, in turn a son of Mr Prospector, and retired to stud having won the 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic and 2008 Dubai World Cup.
Having made a comeback from a slow start as a stallion he has since sired Keen Ice, Palace Malice, Stellar Wind and Exaggerator; all winning over $1 million dollars and helping rejuvenate interest in the Hill 'n Dale stallion.
