Classic pedigrees catch the eye in February Sale catalogue
Brother to Jet Setting and daughter of Nightime among lots
Goffs has unveiled the catalogue for its three-day February Sale which takes place on February 6-8. The 627 lots on offer consist of two-year-olds, older horses, horses in training, weanlings, breeding-stock and fillies out of training.
Coole House Farm offer a two-year-old Dream Ahead half-brother (lot 42) to Italian Listed winners Rivertime and Storm Of Wind, out of a closely related sister to the Celebration Mile winner Kodi Bear, while Lumville Farm consign a Poet's Voice filly (48) descending from legendary racemare Salsabil.
Joseph O'Brien's Carriganog Racing will present the four-year-old Power gelding Pronounced (71), a five-length winner of a Ballinrobe maiden hurdle in August, for which he earned a Racing Post Rating of 113.
Of the weanlings up for grabs, Brookville Farm offer a Cappella Sansevero half-brother (399) to Jet Setting, who memorably claimed the scalp of Minding in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, while the same contest was also won by Nightime, the dam of La Chapelle (600), who will be offered in foal to Fascinating Rock.
Nightime's previous foals include Zhukova, the first filly to win the Man O'War stakes since 1978, and Ghaiyyath, winner of last year's Autumn Stakes at Newmarket.
Night Visit was offered at the 2014 February Sale following the success of her Teofilo son Trading Leather in the Irish Derby, and the then ten-year-old daughter of Sinnder was bought by De Burgh Equine for the sale-topping sum of €975,000.
"The Goffs February Sale, the largest in Europe at this time of year, is a clear market leader whose popularity is illustrated by the demand for places this year," said Henry Beeby, chief executive of the Goffs Group.
"Buyers from home and abroad will find unrivalled choice and quality throughout the catalogue with a day and a half of weanlings, a strong selection of broodmares and fillies, and a wide variety of Flat and National Hunt stock of all ages."
