'We offer a stallion to suit all jumping mares' - Yorton Farm releases 2021 fees

Yorton Farm Stud has released the 2021 covering fees for its six-strong stallion roster, which includes Easysland's sire Gentlewave and recent recruit Arrigo.

Gentlewave, a Classic-winning son of Monsun, heads the line-up at a fee of £3,250, followed by Masterstroke, also a son of Monsun and from the family of Galileo, at £3,000 and Linda's Lad, sire of Cash Back and Tout Est Permis, at £2,500.

Pether's Moon, the Coronation Cup-winning son of Dylan Thomas whose first crop turned four this year, and Scalo, a Group 1-winning son of Lando, have both been pitched at £2,000. Completing the roster is newcomer Arrigo, a Shirocco half-brother to German Derby winner Adlerflug, who has been introduced at £1,300.

Given the challenging backdrop to the 2021 breeding season, Yorton Farm has trimmed its fees, as stud director David Futter explained, saying: "We have lowered all our stud fees to help breeders during this uncertain time. We can offer a stallion to suit all jumping mares and a range of budgets.

"Our new sire Arrigo, a beautifully-bred, good-looking son of leading jump sire Shirocco, has been introduced at £1,300. We believe this gives him every chance to secure a good book of mares and make a mark in his first season in Britain."

Mare owners are also being offered the chance to win a free nomination to any of Yorton Farm's six stallions as part of the stud's annual prize draw.

Futter added: "Our prize draw has become a popular target for mare owners – a fun draw, but with a commercial outcome for the lucky winner. Good luck to everyone who enters."

To enter breeders must log on to the Yorton Farm Stud website and submit their name, the name of their mare and their preferred stallion choice. The winner's name will be drawn live on Facebook on Valentine's Day, February 14, the opening day of the covering season. Entries must be in by February 10.

Yorton Farm's roster has seen one departure ahead of the upcoming covering season, with stud stalwart Norse Dancer, sire of dual Grade 1 hero Yanworth, relocating to the Dawson family's Nunstainton Stud in County Durham.

Futter said: "We have worked closely with the Dawson family on a number of projects and this is a great opportunity for Norse Dancer to continue his career in another area of the country. He remains fertile and willing and should prove very successful."

Chris Dawson jnr of Nunstainton Stud added: "Norse Dancer is a proven sire with no negatives. We have a number of small owner-breeders among our clients and he will suit their mares. We are grateful to Dave, Lester and Riley Futter for helping us bring this grand horse to the north of England."
