Joy Valley, the dam of prolific six-time Grade 1 winner Riboletta and Brazilian champion colt Super Power, has died at the age of 31 due to old age.

In a statement from the Kentucky-based Taylor Made Farm, the late Joy Valley was the dam of four individual stakes winners, including Riboletta, a top-level winner in her native Brazil before landing five Grade 1 races in the US.

Riboletta, whose American triumphs included the Milady Breeders' Cup Handicap, Vanity Handicap and Beldame Stakes, retired with over $1.5 million in prize-money and was also named Eclipse Champion Older Mare in 2000.

The daughter of Ghadeer's other black type progeny included two-time Brazilian champion colt Super Power and the stakes-winning pair of Forest Attack and Tamara Princess.

Taylor Made's Frank Taylor said: "She was an incredible mare. “We were privileged to have her here for so many years at Taylor Made Farm for Aaron and Marie Jones. She produced an Eclipse Champion in Riboletta and was just a great mare. Everything you could hope for.”

Joy Valley, who was owned by Aaron and Marie Jones, will be buried at Taylor Made Farm.
