Three Chimneys, Hill 'n Dale and Gainesway release 2019 fees

Gun Runner, the 2017 Horse of the Year, remains atop the Three Chimneys stallion roster for 2019, with his stud fee unchanged at $70,000 for his second year at stud.

"We are very pleased at the performance of our stallions this past year, in the breeding shed, on the racetrack, and in the auction ring," said Three Chimneys chairman Goncalo Torrealba.

"Gun Runner covered an exceptional book of quality mares, which should lay the foundation for him as a successful sire."

Gun Runner, whose six Grade 1 wins include the Breeders' Cup Classic and Pegasus World Cup, earned $15,988,500 in a stellar racing career.

He was dominant on the racetrack, winning the Woodward Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets by over ten lengths, the Whitney Stakes by more than five, the Clark Handicap by nearly three lengths, and the Stephen Foster Handicap by seven lengths.

He is Candy Ride's leading earner and is out of Quiet Giant, a Grade 2-winning half-sister to 2005 Horse of the Year Saint Liam.

Champion Will Take Charge, winner of the Travers Stakes and Clark Handicap, is a top-five first-crop sire in 2018 by progeny earnings and co-ranked in second by number of black-type performers with four alongside Goldencents and Souper Speedy.

He is represented this year by black-type winner Kim K, who won the Barretts Debutante Stakes; Grade 2-placed winner Lightscameraaction, who was third in the Grade 3 Pocahontas Stakes and second in the Exacta Systems Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Kentucky Downs; and by stakes-placed Manny Wah and Red Zinger.

He is also leads his sire class with a lifetime yearling average of $154,063. The fee for this son of Unbridled's Song remains unchanged at $30,000.

Hill 'n Dale Farms releases 2019 stud fees

Racing and sales success lead to fee increases for Curlin and Kitten's Joy

Extraordinary performances at the track and in the auction ring have allowed Hill 'n Dale Farms to bump up the 2019 stud fees for Curlin and Kitten's Joy, two of the top four active stallions on the BloodHorse's general leading sire list.

Curlin, a 14-year-old son of Smart Strike, will stand for $175,000 next season, up from $150,000 this year. Kitten's Joy will stand for $75,000, up from $60,000 this year.

Kitten's Joy recently jumped to the top of the leading sire list and is well-poised heading into the Breeders' Cup to earn his second North American sire title. The 17-year-old son of El Prado earned his first leading sire title in 2013, when he was also the leading North American turf sire. Kitten's Joy has since locked down the leading turf sire title for the last five years.

Curlin ranks fifth on the general leading sire list with more than $10.45 million in progeny earnings and is co-ranked third by number of Graded/Group stakes winners with eight, alongside Kitten's Joy, Candy Ride, and War Front.

Also seeing a rise in price is Violence, currently the leading second-crop sire by progeny earnings (more than $3.8 million), winners (68), black-type winners (eight), and black-type wins (eight). His chief earner is Grade 1-placed Grade 3 winner Talk Veuve To Me.

The three-year-old filly won the Grade 3 Indiana Oaks and was second in the Acorn Stakes. Violence will stand for $40,000 next year, up from $25,000 in 2018.

"The increase in fees for several of our stallions represents racetrack and sales success, and the decision was not taken lightly," said Hill 'n Dale president John Sikura.

"We continue to offer breeders stallions that are on the rise. This success should offer proof that supporting Hill 'n' Dale stallions is a wise investment in this competitive marketplace."

New to Hill 'n Dale's roster next year is champion and multiple Grade 1 winner Good Magic, who is by Curlin, and undefeated Grade 1 winner Army Mule, a son of Friesan Fire and one of the leading sprinters in the country.

"Our two new additions of Good Magic and Army Mule give breeders a chance to get involved in stallions that we think will be our next generation of important stallions," said Sikura.

"Our roster continues to expand, offering breeders proven stallions at the highest level in Curlin and Kitten's Joy, coupled with emerging important sires like Violence, Kantharos and Maclean's Music .

"Champion Flintshire has great first foals, some of which will be offered in November. Yearlings by Bayern and Secret Circle rewarded breeders handsomely at the sales this year."

The roster also includes stalwarts Midnight Lute, who is currently ranked among the top 20 leading sires and has been represented this year by Grade 1 millionaire Midnight Bisou, and Stormy Atlantic, who has sired more than 100 black-type winners, including last year's Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner Stormy Liberal.

Gainesway releases full 2019 stallion roster

Belmont Stakes winner Tapwrit's fee set to $12,500

Gainesway has announced its full roster of 2019 stud fees with 2017 Belmont Stakes winner Tapwrit introduced at a fee of $12,500, stands and nurses.

The four-year-old son of Gainesway sire Tapit is out of the Grade 1-winning mare Appealing Zophie, by Successful Appeal. Tapwrit is a half-brother to Grade 2 Del Mar Derby winner Ride A Comet, who is still in training.

Gainesway previously released three-time leading sire Tapit's fee at a reduced $225,000.

Tapwrit will join a roster of eight others at the Kentucky farm, which includes Empire Maker, grandsire of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah .

The 18-year-old son of Unbridled will remain at a fee of $85,000, stands and nurses, for the third year in a row. Empire Maker's first North American-bred yearlings since his return from Japan, where he stood from 2010-15, were offered at public auction this year.
