A fifth wildcard has been added to the Tattersalls July Sale with the David Loughnane-trained Apex King () to be offered for sale on Thursday.

The five-year-old Kodiac gelding is a four-time winner and has a peak Racing Post Rating of 97 following a steady rise in his ratings this year, with the Listed winner most effective at seven furlongs to a mile.

Apex King began his career with Ed Dunlop, for whom he won two races including the Listed Winkfield Stakes at Ascot on just his third start as a two-year-old.

He also placed multiple times for Richard Hughes before switching to Loughnane, winning a valuable mile handicap at Lingfield in January and another Class 2 prize at Goodwood in May.

Apex King is out of an unraced sister to the Criterium de Saint-Cloud runner-up Simplex and Bounce, the dam of three stakes performers led by the Scandinavian champions Hurricane Red and Icecapada.

They in turn are out of Russyskia, a half-sister to the Prix Royal Oak (French St Leger) winner Top Sunrise, the champion three-year-old stayer in France in 1988.
