Smart son of Camelot retired to stud in France
Team Flight added to Haras du Grand Chesnaie roster
Team Flight - a smart son of Camelot out of Listed winner Chutney Flight - will not race on as a three-year-old, instead taking up covering duties at Haras du Grand Chesnaie in north-west France, where he will be offered to breeders at a fee of €1,800.
Trained by Andre Fabre for owner Patrick Boiteau, Team Flight finished a close second to the War Command gelding Purple Victory on debut at Saint-Cloud in November, but with his imposing physique - he stands at 1.68 metres - the decision was made to retire him.
Team Flight was bred by Boiteau out of the Dylan Thomas mare Chutney Flight, also a winning hurdler, while her dam Karly Flight proved an exceptional hurdler and chaser at Auteuil as a four-year-old, winning in Grade 1 company in both disciplines.
Team Flight will replace Spider Flight on the Grand Chesnaie roster. The Montjeu half-brother to Chutney Flight sired Grade 3-winning hurdler Spinozzar before his death at the age of 13 last May.
Camelot, the 2,000 Guineas winner who also completed the Anglo-Irish Derby double, has sired three elite winners to date including last season's Group 1-winning juvenile Wonderment, and is standing at Coolmore Stud at a career-high fee of €40,000.
