The mile maiden for two-year-old colts and geldings at Chantilly on Saturday could hardly have gone much better for first-season sire Kingman.

The Banstead Manor Stud resident fielded two of the six runners and one of those – Persian King – scored by six lengths with the other, Boardman, in second.

Kingman – who first announced his brilliance with a smooth Solario Stakes victory this Saturday five years ago – now boasts 11 winners from his debut crop; a haul that includes impressive Coventry Stakes victor Calyx, Listed scorer Look Around and Group 2-placed Sicilia.

Persian King, trained by Andre Fabre for Ballymore Thoroughbreds, had finished an encouraging second on debut at Deauville last month.

He is the second foal out of the winning Dylan Thomas mare Pretty Please, making him a three-parts brother to Pretty Spirit, a three-year-old daughter of Kingman's sire Invincible Spirit who was third on debut at Deauville in July.

Pretty Please is a closely related half-sister to Prix Ganay winner and Prix du Jockey Club runner-up Planteur and Australian Listed winner Pilote D'Essai.

This is the phenomenal 'P' family cultivated by the Wildenstein family that has produced the likes of Pawneese, Peintre Celebre and Policy Maker – and, in another offshoot, this season's superstar stayer Stradivarius.

Pretty Please has a yearling filly by Australia and was covered by Kingman again this year.

Persian King, meanwhile, holds an entry in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp next month.
