No Nay Never was a “significant loser” for RaceBets after fielding more individual winners in Britain and Ireland than any other freshman sire in the official Flat season, which ended last Saturday.

The son of Scat Daddy was a popular choice among punters after opening up the 4-1 second favourite behind Kingman in the company's first-season sire market in March.

Sadly, though, he eluded the five industry professionals who picked their RaceBets-sponsored £50 charity bets in the Racing Post that month.

No Nay Never's tally of winners at the end of Saturday's racing stood at 22 – three clear of second-placed Charm Spirit, who was a 14-1 shot when betting opened, with Kingman (3-1 in the first show) third on 17.

"No Nay Never was initially chalked up as the 4-1 second favourite behind Kingman for this year's competition and he actually drifted out to 11-2 until money started to come for him on May 12, when he shortened to 9-2,” said a RaceBets spokesperson.

“He eventually assumed favouritism by July and held his place at the head of the market for the remainder of the season. He was still available at 8-11 with only five days left in the competition as Charm Spirit turned it into a race, but he could never pass him.

“Obviously, having been available at 11-2, No Nay Never was a significant loser in the RaceBets book and the writing was on the wall for a long time.”

However, there would have been one worse result for RaceBets, as Bungle Inthejungle – who opened at 20-1 – was well supported after supplying a rash of early winners.

“It would have been worse if Bungle Inthejungle had won,” the spokesperson added. “We would have lost twice as much so we're relatively happy with the end result and look forward to pricing up next year's market."

No Nay Never has been dealt a steep fee increase at Coolmore next year on the back of his stellar first season with runners – up to €100,000 from €25,000 in 2018.
