Progeny success in native land sees Danon Ballade resold to Japan

Danon Ballade, who became the first son of Deep Impact to stand in Britain this year when he relocated from Italy to Batsford Stud in Gloucestershire, has been resold to Japan, a move prompted by the success of his progeny in his native land.

Derby entry Naimama heads up his runners foaled in Japan, where he covered 45 mares before his transfer to Allevamento di Besnate in Italy, and the promising two-year-old has won two of his three starts, including the prestigious Cosmos Sho at Sapporo on Saturday.

Serdar Kemal Ozcolak, Tarik Tekce and Simone Esposito - owners of Danon Ballade - agreed the sale of the ten-year-old to Big Red Farm in Hokkaido, which is owned by Shigeyuki Okada, who races Naimama.

Danon Ballade will stand alongside Danon Chantilly, a Group 1 winner by Fuji Kiseki who, like Danon Ballade, counts influential broodmare Ballade as his third dam.

Big Red Farm's new recruit covered 64 mares in Italy, and was based at Batsford Stud this year in the care of father-and-son team Alan and Tim Varey.

Batsford will offer mares in foal to Danon Ballade at this year's Tattersalls December Mares Sale, among them Kublahara, a Pulpit daughter of the multiple Listed-placed Sadler's Wells mare Kisses For Me.
