The third Tattersalls Ascot Yearling Sale takes place on Tuesday with 167 sharp, precocious youngsters set to come under the hammer.

One of the best bargain buys in recent times came out of last year's sale, with Anjaal filly Bettys Hope have caught the eye of trainer Rod Millman and his wife Louise at £3,000, before stringing together a sequence of three wins this season culminating in success in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury.

This year's sale features offspring by leading sires Dandy Man, Dark Angel, Farhh, Holy Roman Emperor, Showcasing and Starspangledbanner. First-season sires represented include Anjaal, Cable Bay, Due Diligence, Gutaifan and Outstrip. No fewer than 17 first-crop sires have progeny listed, including Awtaad, Belardo, New Bay and Twilight Son.

Though not represented this year, James Kelly of Linacre House Stud sold two stakes winners from as many lots last year.

The £20,000 Hot Streak filly Flaming Princess won in Listed company at Deauville last month for the Cool Silk Partnership, having been pinhooked by Danny Benson's Dunsany Stables, while the £10,000 Outstrip filly Flippa The Strippa won the National Stakes at Sandown for owner Chris Wright.

A Free Eagle half-sister to Flippa The Strippa will be offered by Houghton Bloodstock as lot 34 on Tuesday. The February-foaled filly was bred by Burns Farm Stud, who acquired the Verglas mare Celsius Degre for 11,000gns from Linacre House at the 2017 Tattersalls December Sale.

Another to catch the eye is lot 148, a Mehmas half-sister to the Acomb Stakes scorer Treaty Of Paris and offered by Clonmult Farm, with the March-born youngster descending from the Lancashire Oaks heroine Sing Softly.

Last month's Group 1 Grosser Preis von Berlin provided an update for two lots in the catalogue, with lot 6 a Havana Gold filly who shares her granddam with the winner French King, while lot 53 is a Monsieur Bond filly who is out of a half-sister to the close runner-up Communique. The former is offered by agent Jamie Railton while the latter is consigned by Fernham Farm.

Others to emerge from last year's sale are the Listed winner and Prestige Stakes third Shadn, a No Nay Never filly picked up by Al Rabban Racing and Jackson-Stops Bloodstock for £42,000, and the Norfolk Stakes second Ventura Rebel, a Pastoral Pursuits colt who won over Barberini Bloodstock at £28,000.
