The newest auction in the European sales calendar takes place on Friday with Goffs UK hosting its inaugural December Sale, presenting the final opportunity for purchasers to buy Flat foals in Britain and Ireland this year.

The sale will commence at 10am and will offer 109 horses in training, 76 Flat-bred foals, 48 Flat mares and five Flat-bred yearlings.

Among the highlights in the 242-strong catalogue are supplementary entry (102), a Grade 2 novice chase winner offered by his trainer David Pipe's Pond House Stables, and Hakam(59), a six-year-old son of War Front who won the Group 3 Polar Cup in Norway in August and a prestigious mile handicap at Lingfield in November.

The Flat foals on offer include a (130) half-brother to US Listed hurdle winner Officer Sydney, who will be offered by Elusive Bloodstock, and a colt (181) out of dual stakes winner Fortunately, consigned by Hurst Farm on behalf of Dalwhinnie Bloodstock.

Also with a lively pedigree is the colt foal (161) offered by GG Bloodstock and Racing, who shares his page with this year's Moyglare Stud Stakes scorer Skitter Scatter and Dewhurst Stakes hero and sire Intense Focus.

Goffs UK managing director Tony Williams said: "With the increasing foal crop and the growing pressure at the traditional outlets for Flat foals, breeders have been requesting another sale in which to offer their stock and this new December Sale has been added to fulfil that request.

"We have assembled a good catalogue of foals, mares and horses in training for the sale's debut and we look forward to welcoming an international audience to Doncaster for our last sale of 2018 on Friday."
