Milestone for Frankel as Kalahara provides 40th northern hemisphere Group winner
The Juddmonte stallion reached the feat 331 days faster than Dubawi
Frankel reached a new milestone when two-year-old Kalahara provided him with a 40th northern hemisphere Group winner on Thursday.
The Wertheimer & Frere-owned and bred filly secured her first Pattern success in the 5f Group 3 Prix d'Arenberg at Longchamp, seeing off the previously unbeaten Wesley Ward-trained Wink in a record-breaking time.
It is another towering achievement for Juddmonte's stalwart, who reached the feat faster than any other stallion in European history.
The son of Galileo is responsible for ten individual Group 1 winners to date, including dual Champion Stakes winner Cracksman, Oaks heroine Anapurna and unbeaten St Leger winner Logician.
Kalahara is one of 12 two-year-old winners for Frankel this season, with the exciting Zabeel Queen, Dewhurst entry Fivethousandtooone and the Godolphin-owned Dhahabi all in line for Group-race honours.
Stud director Simon Mockridge said: “We are very privileged to stand one of the world’s outstanding sires in Frankel and are delighted he has reached such a significant milestone so quickly.
"Frankel offers breeders a phenomenal chance of producing a Group
winner with an outstanding 12 per cent Group winners to runners and 27 per cent black-type performers to runners.”
"His current crop of two-year-olds has already produced 12 winners and 14 placed horses from the 38 to run to date."
