Group 3 winner Master Carpenter will stand under the GG Bloodstock and Racing banner next spring at a £2,000 fee. The operation is run by husband-and-wife team Luke and Rosie Gedge-Gibson in Kirtling near Newmarket.

The seven-year-old son of Mastercraftsman was trained by Rod Millman to win a 5f Leicester maiden on debut in the April of his juvenile season and a valuable conditions stakes at Pontefract two starts later.

On his seasonal reappearance at three, he finished third behind Kingman and Night Of Thunder in the Greenham Stakes before landing the Listed Heron Stakes at Sandown and the 1m1f Group 3 Prix Daphnis at Chantilly.

“We’re going to be standing him mainly for owner-breeders who will race his foals,” said Rosie Gedge-Gibson. “We’re very excited as he’ll be the only son of Mastercraftsman standing in Britain.

“Breeders like him because he’s tough and was consistent for so long. He’s also a complete gentleman and such a nice-natured horse as well.”

Master Carpenter maintained a good level of form throughout his career, annexing a Class 2 handicap at York at six and a Goodwood handicap on his penultimate start this season.

Bred by Naiff Sa and Newtown Stud, Master Carpenter hails from the first crop of Mastercraftsman along with Prix du Jockey Club scorer The Grey Gatsby, a €7,000 option for breeders at Haras du Petit Tellier next spring, and Racing Post Trophy and St Leger scorer Kingston Hill, who remains at €5,000 at Coolmore Stud in Ireland.

Master Carpenter is out of Fringe, a closely related half-sister to the Listed winner Mount Elbrus, with that pair out of El Jazirah, a Kris sister to Prix de Diane heroine Rafha, who is best known as the dam of top-class sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac.

He becomes the third noteworthy member of the Eljazzi clan to retire to stud for 2019 along with Rathbarry Stud recruit James Garfield and Coolmore Stud retiree Gustav Klimt.

Breeders hoping to get a glimpse of Master Carpenter will be able to do so at the Goffs UK and Tattersalls stallion parades early next year, while a viewing day will be held from 1pm on Saturday, December 15, at Parsonage Farm in Kirtling.
