Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Magician to stand in Italy in 2021
Son of Galileo began his stud career at Coolmore in the US
Globetrotting Irish 2,000 Guineas and Breeders' Cup Turf hero Magician is on the move again, with French publication Jour de Galop reporting the son of Galileo is to stand the 2021 breeding season in Italy.
The ten-year-old began his stallion career at Coolmore's US base at Ashford Stud in Kentucky in 2015, from where he bred the likes of Champagne Stakes third Cardini.
He spent almost four full seasons at Ashford, but transferred to Coolmore's Castlehyde Stud in Ireland for the latter part of the 2018 season. The following year he switched to Haras de Corlay in France, where he spent two seasons. He stood for €3,800 in 2020.
Magician's oldest crop are four, with his roll of honour including US Listed winner Miss My Rose, dual French scorer Mister Nino and the useful Starczewski.
Magician's Italian stud career will be managed by a partnership of Mattia Cadrobbi, Marco Bozzi and Guido Berardelli. A fee and a farm will be announced later.
