Nominations to four stallions are among the lots already up for grabs as part of the Racing To Recovery & A Brighter Future Charity Raceday at Newbury on August 6.

It is being organised by Dr Bridget Drew in memory of her late husband John, in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund’s three rehabilitation centres as well as the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) and the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR).

Drew, an expert in breeding and management of dairy cattle who now runs Mildmay Farm and Stud near Whitchurch in Hampshire, has produced horses such as Lingfield Oaks Trial winner Perfect Clarity. John Drew, a veterinarian, died in 2017.

Bidding was opened on the silent auction on July 10, with the first four lots being covers for the 2020 season.

They are for Nunnery Stud’s recent addition Tasleet, Whitsbury Manor Stud’s Flying Five Stakes winner Havana Grey, popular Oak Grove Stud resident Al Kazeem and for El Kabeir, the US Graded stakes-winning son of Scat Daddy who moved to Yeomanstown.

There are a plethora of shares in horses, mornings on the gallops with trainers, racing visits, tours of studs including Juddmonte, Darley and Newsells Park, sporting days out and even an autographed helmet from motorcycling icon Valentino Rossi among the 44 entries so far.
