Ghaiyyath’s brother Khaiz has the Sandown hill and seven rivals to overcome on Saturday as he has the second run of his career.

The son of Dubawi out of Galileo’s Classic-winning daughter Nightime showed some promise on his debut at Doncaster on the first day of the Flat season, finishing a keeping-on sixth of 11 and connections will be hoping he can improve for that experience at Sandown in the 1m2f maiden (4.00)..

His brother kept Enable at arms length in the Coral-Eclipse last summer, when he was ridiculously allowed to go off 9-4 second favourite, and ended the year the top-ranked horse on the planet on 130.

The only two newcomers among Khaiz’s opponents both have much to recommend them on pedigree.

Peter Brant’s two-tone green silks aren’t that familiar a sight on British racecourses but set to carry them at Sandown is a homebred son of Frankel, Poet Of Life.

Out of an Invincible Spirit mare who is a half-sister to Poule d’Essai des Pouliches heroine Beauty Parlour,, the Gosdens’ runner is closely related to Kuramata, a dual winner in the United States this year.

Another three-year-old homebred making her debut is Malcolm Denmark’s Hang Up. By Lope De Vega, she is out of Missed Call, who carried the famous Denmark colours to victory in the Listed Floodlit Stakes at Kempton. She represents the James Fanshawe yard.

Maidens and novice events at Leicester are always worth a second look, and Saturday’s opener for fillies over seven furlongs (5.40) is no exception.

Only four are due to go to post but they include the debuting Godolphin homebred Pulcheria, a half-sister to this year’s seven-length UAE 1,000 Guineas winner Soft Whisper.

By Shamardal out of Sea The Stars’ daughter Placidia, she is a stablemate of Khaiz at the Charlie Appleby yard.

Her chief rival looks to be Kirsten Rausing’s homebred Madame Ambassador, a close second on her debut at Haydock.
