Arabian Queen, whose defining moment came when causing a 50-1 upset in the 2015 Juddmonte International, is proving less of a surprise package as a broodmare as Frankella became her second winning foal in the space of only a few days.

Unsurprisingly given her name, the fluent scorer of the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes is a daughter of Frankel, with owner-breeder Jeff Smith following the same formula as that of Arabian Queen's first foal Spirit Mixer, who broke his duck on the same Newmarket July Course only a couple of weeks ago.

They all come from a long-held family by Smith's Littleton Stud, Arabian Queen being out of his dual Lancashire Oaks scorer Barshiba. Smith and David Elsworth enjoyed not only that keynote York success with Arabian Queen but the Group 2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes when she was a juvenile.

Spirit Mixer drew a blank in three starts as a juvenile but has progressed with the step up in distance, striking in a handicap over a mile and a half.

Frankella, who is also with the Andrew Balding stable, has been somewhat sharper and this half-length win followed two fair efforts at Salisbury. Spirit Mixer has been declared to run at the track on Saturday to complete a rewarding July Meeting for connections.

"Her dam wasn’t very big either and certainly improved with racing, it would be fantastic if this filly went on to do well, she certainly has the temperament for it," jockey Oisin Murphy told Racing TV.
