Woodside Park Stud has further strengthened its already impressive stallion roster for 2019 with the news that Australia’s champion second-season sire Foxwedge will stand at its Tylden propertyin Victoria.

Foxwedge will join champion sire Written Tycoon as well as Deep Impact’s dual Group 1 winning son Tosen Stardom plus Invincible Spirit’s highest rated two-year-old, Cable Bay and Written Tycoon’s fastest son at stud, Rich Enuff.

No service fee has been announced yet for Foxwedge, who previously stood at Newgate Farm in New South Wales for seven seasons – the past three at a fee of A$22,000.

Prominent Victorian businessman Eddie Hirsch, who purchased Foxwedge, explained he had been negotiating the sale of Foxwedge since August.

"We thought he would be a perfect fit for Victoria and the VOBIS Scheme with his ability to get running two and three-year-olds," Hirsch said.

Hirsch said Foxwedge appealed with his record of 35 stakes-horses and his oldest only being five-year-olds of the quality of Group 1 winners Foxplay and Volpe Veloce as well as Pretty Polly Stakes heroine Urban Fox in the northern hemisphere.

"I'm delighted to team up with Woodside Park Stud,’’ Hirsch said.

"Woodside are industry leaders so to have them supporting Foxwedge bodes very well for his future success at stud."

James Price, general commercial manager at Woodside Park Stud, said: "Foxwedge is a Group 1 winner who produces impressive stock that captures buyers’ attention. Coupled with this, his ability to get stakes horses (8.5 per cent) will ensure his stock commands not only local but international appeal."

Henry Field, manager of Foxwedge’s former home Newgate Farm, said: "He was our first stallion and was really integral in getting Newgate to where it is today. I am sure he will be as good for Woodside and Victoria as he was for us."
