Five potential headline acts at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale
One-time Derby favourite English King among the 1,625 catalogued lots
With 1,625 lots catalogued for this year's Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale, prospective purchasers and bloodstock aficionados alike will need to do plenty of research to sort the wheat from the chaff.
We have run the rule over the mammoth offering and identified five potential star lots among the four sessions of selling.
A Case Of You
2yo c Hot Streak - Karjera (Key Of Luck)
Consigned by John McConnell Racing (1,153C)
The two-year-old failed to capture buyers' imaginations when first offered at public auction as he was bought back by co-breeder Tara Stud at just €3,000. However, he has since proved that valuation all wrong as he has landed two of his three starts.
He stepped up on a promising debut third to land a Down Royal maiden by a comfortable two and three-quarter lengths, despite having to overcome an unfavourable draw and some residual greenness.
He took another sizeable leap forward on his most recent start when making just about all the running in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes to score by a ready length and a quarter. After that performance, his trainer said: "I wouldn't be surprised if he gets faster and faster and the dream could be something like a Commonwealth Cup."
The form of the Anglesey Stakes was boosted on Saturday when runner-up Lipizzaner claimed the Listed Doncaster Stakes.

Dubai Station
2yo b c Brazen Beau - Princess Guest (Iffraaj)
Consigned by Spigot Lodge Stables (554)
Karl Burke's three-year-old has developed into a smart sprinter this year and boasts some eyecatching pieces of form. He opened his account at two in a Haydock novice event before being pitched into the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, where he went on to finish just three lengths behind A'Ali, who has now won four Group 2s.
Dubai Station's three-year-old campaign began with victory in the Group 3 Pavilion Stakes at Newcastle, in which he saw off the likes of Malotru and subsequent Group 1 runner-up Keep Busy.
He went on to record a career-high Racing Post Rating of 109 when third, beaten just a length and a half, behind Royal Crusade in the Prix de Ris-Orangis. On that occasion he was just a head away from runner-up Glen Shiel, who boosted the form in no certain terms by winning the Group 1 British Champions Sprint Stakes on his most recent outing.
Emissary
3yo b c Kingman - Soviet Moon (Sadler's Wells)
Consigned by Juddmonte Farms (1,126)
As a Kingman half-brother to Derby hero Workforce, Emissary has always stood out on paper, and over the course of five starts has shown himself to be a smart and progressive performer.
He made a winning debut by two and a quarter lengths at the backend of his juvenile season, and kicked off at three with a neck defeat to Khalifa Sat in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes.
He made little impact in the Derby itself but got back on track with a promising second to Cognac at Newmarket and was last seen running out a cosy winner of a Yarmouth handicap from an official rating of 97.
Now rated 103 (RPR 108), he looks certain to be on plenty of shortlists as a type who will prove capable of mixing it in deeper waters in due course.
English King
3yo b c Camelot - Platonic (Zafonic)
Consigned by Ed Walker Racing (1,153A)
Rates an extremely rare - and somewhat surprising - offering at public auction. English King has won two starts, namely a Newcastle maiden at two and the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial on his three-year-old reappearance.
The latter effort saw him propelled into favouritism for the Epsom Classic, where he wasn't disgraced in fifth behind runaway winner Serpentine. He has twice finished behind Mogul on his two starts since, in the Gordon Stakes and, latterly, the Grand Prix de Paris.
Although he has not yet scaled the heights that seemed likely earlier in the season, his Lingfield effort is not such a distant memory, and as such there is still time for English King to get back on the up.
Not only does he have high-class form in the book, he is backed up by a superb pedigree as a sibling to Group 3 winner Pacifique and the Listed scorer Prudenzia, better known as the dam of Chicquita and Magic Wand.
He is also by Camelot, who did his international appeal no harm whatsoever by siring a one-three with Sir Dragonet and Russian Camelot in the Cox Plate on Saturday.
First In Line
4yo ch c New Approach - Hidden Hope (Daylami)
Consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment (1,098)
This smart stayer has won three of his eight lifetime starts for John Gosden and recorded a career-high Racing Post Rating of 114 for his game success in a Class 2 Chelmsford handicap on his penultimate outing.
He gained black type when third to Dashing Willoughby in the Listed Buckhounds Stakes at Newmarket earlier this year, and also finished second to subsequent British Champions Long Distance Cup hero Trueshan at three.
Such a level of performances comes as little surprise given he hails from a fine Hascombe and Valiant Studs family. His dam won the Cheshire Oaks and has gone on to produce a brace of black-type winners, namely Ribblesdale Stakes heroine and Oaks third Frankly Darling and the Listed scorer Our Obsession.
Provided he is over whatever has kept him off the track since June, First In Line looks likely to appeal to a broad cross section of buyers, including those looking for a high-class National Hunt recruit as well as those on the hunt for staying prospects for big overseas targets.
