The Grey Gatsby was provided with his first Group winner when Mylady added the 125th Dr Busch-Memorial at Krefeld to her CV, following on from last season's Listed score at Dusseldorf.

A homebred of Gestut Karlshof, the Markus Klug-trained three-year-old came home a neck in front of Neatico colt Schwarzer Peter, with Poet's Voice's Georgios four lengths back in third.

Mylady is the first foal out of the unraced Dabirsim mare Minoris, who is in turn out of Monspa, a Monsun half-sister to Spasha - the dam of Haydock Sprint Cup and Diamond Jubilee Stakes scorer Hello Youmzain and Gran Criterium victor Royal Youmzain - plus Hampton Court Stakes winner and Hardwicke Stakes third Persian Majesty.

Monspa is in turn out of the Lord Howard de Walden-bred Sadler's Wells mare Spa, a half-sister to Hardwicke winner Sandmason and the stakes-winning Musidora Stakes second Sardegna, the dam of stakes scorer Sardonic and Ribblesdale Stakes runner-up Samoa.

The fourth dam is Lancashire Oaks victress Sandy Island, a full-sister to Derby hero Slip Anchor.

The Grey Gatsby was a high-class performer from two to six, with the son of the late Mastercraftsman winning on debut as a juvenile before placing in two Group races, namely the Acomb and Champagne Stakes.

Trained by Kevin Ryan, the popular grey landed the Dante Stakes, Prix du Jockey Club and Irish Champion Stakes at three, with seconds in the Juddmonte International and Craven Stakes.

He was a consistent performer as an older horse, finishing second in the Dubai Turf, Prince of Wales's Stakes, and Eclipse Stakes as well as a third in the Juddmonte International.

The Grey Gatsby retired to Haras du Petit Tellier for the 2018 breeding season, standing his first three seasons for a fee of €7,000 before a fee increase to €8,000 last year.

His first crop has seen the 11-year-old represented by 13 individual winners, including two stakes scorers in Mylady and Indian Wish, who scored in the Prix de la Californie in February.
