Danetime mares produce first two winners at Salisbury

The influence of the late Danetime was once again in evidence on Thursday - just days after his son Myboycharlie sired the winner of the Beverly D Stakes in Sistercharlie - when his daughters were responsible for the first two winners at Salisbury.

The Archie Watson-trained and Ontoawinner-owned Concello got the ball rolling when the two-year-old Society Rock filly justified favouritism in the opening 7f maiden auction fillies' stakes.

A €16,000 Goresbridge breeze-up purchase for Blandford Bloodstock, Concello was kept up to her work by Oisin Murphy but ultimately won with a bit in hand by a length and three quarters.

Concello, who became the 13th juvenile winner for her sire this year, also holds an entry in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket in late September.

The Martyn Meade-trained Frankel colt Rise Hall completed the double for Danetime as damsire when landing the following novice stakes over the same distance by clear water.

Three-year-old Rise Hall is the seventh winner from as many runners out of Forever Bond, who was picked up by trainer Bryan Smart for 15,500gns as a yearling but never raced.

Her third and fourth foals, Hoof It and Ladies Are Forever, are her best performers to date, winning the Stewards' Cup and the Group 3 Summer Stakes at York respectively.

Rise Hall has no future entries but looks a smart prospect for connections, who withdrew him from the Tattersalls yearling sales last year.
