One of the stars of the US turf season this year has been three-time Grade 1-winning filly Sistercharlie, who graces the front cover of this week's Arqana October Yearling Sale catalogue, which begins its four-day run in Deauville on Tuesday.

Pictured winning the Beverly D Stakes, the daughter of Myboycharlie was a €12,000 purchase for Paul Nataf during the opening session of the 2015 sale.

Day one is usually when the best quality yearlings are offered, with €12.6 million of trade recorded last year.

A total of 224 lots were catalogued for last year's opening session - 34 per cent of the entire sale - yet accounted for 60 per cent of turnover across the four days.

Buyers look set to be spoiled for choice once again from the start with yearlings on offer by Galileo, Sea The Stars, Camelot and No Nay Never.

Haras du Mezeray, who have consigned the likes of Signs Of Blessing and Mekhtaal through the same sales ring, will offer a February-born No Nay Never colt (lot 69) from the extended family of this year’s Moyglare Stud Stakes scorer Skitter Scatter.

No Nay Never has enjoyed a flying start to his second career, with 25 first-crop winners to his name and operating at an exceptional 51 per cent winners-to-runners strike rate.

Haras de Saint Pair enjoyed a memorable year on the track in 2017 with homebreds Trais Fluors and Via Ravenna both successful in Group company.

The operation, also the breeder of Champion Stakes third Subway Dancer, will offer a Kendargent half-brother (64) to Trais Fluors out of Group 3 Prix Vanteaux winner Trois Lunes on Tuesday.

While No Nay Never is top of the freshman sire class, with Charm Spirit, Bungle Inthejungle and War Command also past the 20-winner mark, Camelot has put clear daylight between himself and his second-season rivals.

The dual Derby hero, who came so close to landing the Triple Crown, has sired 70 winners from 157 runners this year at a 45 per cent clip, with progeny earnings almost double that of his nearest pursuer.

There are ten yearlings catalogued by the sire this week, led by a three-parts brother (18) to Group 3 winner Pacifique and half-brother to Listed winner Prudenzia, the dam of Irish Oaks heroine Chicquita and Ribblesdale Stakes scorer Magic Wand. She will be offered by Ecurie des Monceaux.

Updates have come thick and fast for the sale including for Haras d’Ombreville’s War Command filly (98), whose half-sister Fleeting won the Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster last month.

A total of 623 youngsters will be offered across the four days.
