Change of residence for Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner King Of Change

Group 1 winner King Of Change has moved from Shadwell's Derrinstown Stud to Starfield Stud ahead of the 2023 breeding season, the operation's Micheal Orlandi has confirmed.

The son of Farhh, who was trained by Richard Hannon to win the 2019 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, has spent the last two years at Derrinstown and his first foals are due to sell in the next few weeks.

In a deal that was brokered with the assistance of agent Anthony Stroud, Orlandi has created a partnership with King Of Change's owner Ali Abdulla Saeed and breeding rights in the 2,000 Guineas runner-up will also be available.

Orlandi has been keen to stand King Of Change since his retirement to stud was announced two years ago and his persistence has paid off.

"I inquired about standing King Of Change but he went to Derrinstown," Orlandi said. "We kept an eye on him all the time and when I saw his foals this year and spoke to breeders about them, I felt that he was producing foals in his own image and people who used him were very positive about him."

King Of Change is the second son of Farhh to join the stallion line-up at Orlandi's Mullingar stud, alongside Palace House Stakes winner Far Above, whose oldest crop are also foals this year.

The Starfield Stud team is completed by Kuroshio, Smooth Daddy and St Leger winner Galileo Chrome.

Second to Magna Grecia in the Newmarket Classic, King Of Change was bred by Rabbah Bloodstock and is a half-brother to the Group 2 Celebration Mile winner Century Dream, who was also third in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

They are out of the Echo Of Light mare Salacia, a daughter of the Group 3 Prix Fille d'Air winner Neptune's Bride by Bering, the broodmare sire of Stradivarius and Little Big Bear.

A fee for King Of Change in his new home will be announced at a future date.
