Cappella Sansevero, the sire of Mill Reef Stakes scorer Pierre Lapin, is on the move and will relocate to join Derby winner Ruler Of The World at Scuderia Andy Capp, near Siena in Tuscany for 2022.

Having stood at Starfield Stud in County Westmeath, Cappella Sansevero is the latest recruit from the British and Irish stallion ranks following the likes of Adaay and Markaz in recent weeks.

The son of Showcasing was a four-time winner at two for Ger Lyons and Qatar Racing, winning his first three starts including the Listed Marble Hill Stakes before finishing second in the Coventry Stakes to The Wow Signal.

The Genesis Green Stud-bred colt won the Round Tower Stakes having also finished third in the Phoenix Stakes before wrapping up his two-year-old campaign when a fine fourth to Charming Thought in the Middle Park Stakes.

Unplaced in three starts at three, Cappella Sansevero retired to stand at Bridge House Stud for the 2016 breeding season before moving to Starfield Stud in 2020.

His leading offspring to date is Mill Reef Stakes winner Pierre Lapin, although the nine-year-old has also sired 12 other individual winners including dual scorers The Peckhampouncer, Romantic Combo, Calippo and Leabaland.

Cappella Sansevero was a 20,000gns purchase from the Tattersalls December Foal Sale before selling to BBA Ireland for 25,000gns at Book 2 of the October Yearling Sale the following year.

He went on to make £1,300,000 to Sheikh Fahad from Glenburnie Stables at the Goffs London Sale.
