Zarkamiya - the daughter of the legendary Frankel and the brilliant racemare Zarkava - made her stakes race breakthrough at Longchamp on Saturday when overcoming significant trouble in running to land the Listed Prix de Thiberville.

The three-year-old filly travelled sweetly under Christophe Soumillon, but just as she was being asked for her effort she found her run blocked and then received a hefty bump as she found herself briefly sandwiched between wayward rivals.

But once in the clear she quickly regathered her momentum and, having worked her way to the front inside the final furlong, gamely stuck her neck out to prevail by a short neck from Enchanting Skies.

Zarkamiya is the sixth foal out of the Aga Khan's iconic Zarkava, who went unbeaten during a seven-race career that featured wins in the Prix Marcel Boussac, Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, Prix de Diane, Prix Vermeille and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Since retiring to the paddocks the daughter of Zamindar has produced eight foals. While only two of her offspring have run, after Saturday's result both have gained bold black type, as Zarkamiya is a half-sister to Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Zarak, a son of Dubawi.

Zarak now stands at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval and covered 133 mares during his first season.

Among the well-related mares contained within his debut book are: dual Group 1 winner and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe runner-up Shareta; Group 1-placed Visorama - the dam of top stayer Vazirabad, Charm Spirit's half-sister Reem; and Murviel - a full-sister to Prix de Diane heroine Laurens.

Zarkava also has a two-year-old Invincible Spirit colt named Zarkallani, in training with Alain de Royer-Dupre, and a yearling filly by Siyouni.

Saturday's result capped a fine day for Frankel too, having supplied impressive winners Elwazir and Wadilsafa, both of whom are owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum.

Elwazir, the ready winner of a classy Ascot handicap, was bred by Meon Valley Stud and is out of the Listed-winning Dash To The Front, making him a half-brother to dual Group 1 heroine Speedy Boarding. Elwazir was a 500,000gns yearling.

Shadwell homebred Wadilsafa, who won a York 0-105 handicap by no fewer than four and a half lengths, is out of Rumoush, a Listed-winning daughter of Rahy who also finished second in the Park Hill Stakes and third behind Snow Fairy in the Oaks.

Rumoush has produced three winners from three foals, with Wadilsafa being a half-brother to the Group 3 City Of York Stakes winner Talaayeb and the Listed-winning Muntazah.
