A significant boost was given to the Tattersalls Ireland May Store Sale when Telmesomethinggirl, a graduate of last year's inaugural auction, won one of the first two four-year-old point-to-point maidens of 2019.

Roger Casey, managing director of the sales house, said in his end-of-sale statement that the auction gives "purchasers an opportunity to buy stores early in the season and allows them the additional time to produce these horses for a spring campaign as four-year-olds".

That proved to be the case when Telmesomethinggirl - bought for €39,000 by leading point-to-point rider Rob James - strode clear by three lengths under Barry O'Neill at Ballinaboola on Sunday, confirming her place at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Sale on February 21.

The Colin Bowe-trained Stowaway filly is a half-sister to the Grade 2-placed novice chaser Mullaghanoe River - the winner of a point, bumper, hurdle race and chase - who raced under rules in the pink silks of Patricia Hunt for trainer Noel Meade.

Telmesomethinggirl was bred by John Gallagher out of the Saddlers' Hall mare Wahiba Hall. The dam also has colts aged two and three by Fame And Glory, who sired his first Grade 1 winner on Saturday with Commander Of Fleet.

Sunday's winning pointer was pinhooked by Weirside Farm, who purchased her for €4,500 from Coolamurry Stud at the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale.
