Ashford Stud's Belmont-winning first-season sire Tiz The Law to shuttle to Chile

First-season sire and Classic winner Tiz The Law will shuttle to Haras Paso Nevado in Chile following the northern hemisphere breeding season, Coolmore's Ashford Stud has revealed.

The four-time Grade 1 winner - a son of Constitution who is out of the Tiznow Grade 2 winner Tizfiz - follows a number of successful shuttlers between the two farms, which includes the late Scat Daddy, Lookin At Lucky, Powerscourt and Verrazano.

Scat Daddy, who died in 2015, has sired 40 South American black-type winners including 29 Group winners and 11 Chilean champions. Lookin At Lucky has sired 35 black-type winners, which include 24 Graded/Group winners and four champions.

Powerscourt was responsible 13 stakes winners in Chile and Peru, while Verrazano sired stakes winners in Chile.

Ashford's freshman sires Practical Joke and Classic Empire have also shuttled to Chile. Practical Joke went in 2018-19 and Classic Empire in 2020. Neither will be returning this year, according to the farm.

The New York-bred Tiz The Law was a Grade 1 winner at two, when he won the Champagne Stakes on his second start. He went on at three to win the Curlin Florida Derby, Belmont Stakes and Travers Stakes. He was also second in the Kentucky Derby.

He won six of his nine starts and earned $2,735,300 in prize-money. He entered stud this year for a fee of $40,000.
