Best Solution on the mark in Germany to become Kodiac's second Group 1 winner
Best Solution has proven there is more to Kodiac than his prowess as a sire of precocious juveniles and hardy speedsters and the four-year-old colt reinforced that with his breakthrough triumph at the top-level on Sunday.
His victory in the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten over a mile and a half provided Kodiac with his second Group 1 winner as a sire, after 2014’s Cheveley Park Sakes winner Tiggy Wiggy. They are two of the 19 individual Group winners sired by
Tally-Ho Stud’s phenomenon, who holds the world record for the most two-year-old winners in a calendar year and is, once more, leading two-year-old sire.
Best Solution was bred by Cecil and Martin McCracken out of Al Andalyya, a daughter of Kingmambo bred by Ben Sangster and purchased by Cecil McCracken for 10,500 guineas from the Godolphin draft at the 2012 Tattersalls February Sale.
Al Andalyya is a half-sister to Kosmische, a filly by Fastnet Rock, who was a Listed winner at two in Germany and their dam Kushnarenkova is a Group 3-placed daughter of Sadler’s Wells and a full-sister to St Leger and Racing Post Trophy winner Brian Boru.
She is a half-sister to the unraced Soviet Moon, dam of Derby and Arc hero Workforce. Bred by Juddmonte Farms out of Eva Luna, this is also the family of Khalid Abdullah’s multiple Grade 1-winning filly Flute, her Grade 2-winning, Grade 1-placed daughter Filimbi and her daughter, the Grade 1 winner Weep No More. It is also the family of Oaks winner Qualify.
Al Andalyya has a yearling filly by Gutaifan and returned to Kodiac to be covered last year.
Best Solution has entries in the Irish St Leger and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
