The three-year-old filly Beshaayir came with a withering run to land the Listed Muhaarar British EBF Rosemary Stakes at Newmarket on Friday, and supplied her Book 2-bound half-brother with a timely update in the process.

Beshaayir was bred by the exors of the late Sir Eric Parker out of the dual Listed winner Bahia Breeze, a daughter of Mister Baileys whose own racing career was headlined by wins in the Pipalong Stakes and the Bosra Sham Fillies' Stakes.

Bahia Breeze also finished runner-up in the Prix Jean Romanet, Rose of Lancaster Stakes and the Betfred Mile.

Bahia Breeze has produced five winners from six runners, including two stakes performers after Beshaayir's success on Friday, with her half-sister Brioniya having reached the frame at Listed level.

Beshaayir's Zoffany yearling half-brother, who will be offered by Houghton Bloodstock at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, was bred by BB Bloodstock after Rae Guest, who trained Bahia Breeze, signed for the dam at 65,000gns at the 2016 December Mares Sale, where she was sold with the colt in utero.

Bahia Breeze has a filly foal by Twilight Son and visited Nathaniel earlier this year.

Beshaayir has been through the sales ring twice herself, first when fetching 19,000gns as a foal from Peter and Ross Doyle, before Blandford Bloodstock gave 120,000gns for her at Book 2 in 2016.

Her success on Friday also provided her sire, Darley's redoubtable shuttler Iffraaj with his 114th black type performer.

His roll of honour now comprises 29 Group winners and 33 Listed scorers, including elite-level winners such as Ribchester, Wootton Bassett and recent Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes hero Jungle Cat.

The 17-year-old son of Zafonic has four lots catalogued in next week's Goffs Orby Sale.
