Beach barrier draws the crowd ahead of Gold Coast Yearling Sale

Zara and Mike Tindall among those in attendance

Hugh Bowman in cheeky mood during the Magic Millions barrier draw on Tuesday

Hugh Bowman was in cheeky mood on Tuesday as crowds gathered on the picturesque sands of the Gold Coast on the eve of selling at Magic Millions.

Winx's jockey was not afraid to show some skin in the hot conditions, flashing his backside, emblazoned with the 'M' that adorns the silks he wears aboard the superstar filly, at the barrier draw event that preceded Saturday's $10,000,000 raceday at the Gold Coast.

The display was reminiscent of Blake Shinn's infamous wardrobe malfunction at Canterbury in 2015.

The event saw 12 horses make a dash on the sand to select the starting spots for the main races for the A$10 million Magic Millions race day which takes place on Saturday with Bowman and Argentine polo superstar Nacho Figueras among the riders who took part.

Those attending were also treated to seeing the Queen's 2018 Commonwealth baton galloped down the stretch of the beach by Bowman as it made a temporary detour to the Gold Coast to coincide with the Magic Millions carnival.

The Queen's granddaughter Zara Tindall and her husband Mike, who was part of a pinhooking syndicate that sold five lots at last year's edition of the sale, were among the onlookers who descended on the beach to witness the action.

As a Magic Millions ambassador Zara Tindall was also beachside to draw the order in which the horses will be in for their race positions on Saturday.
