Ballydoyle entry makes Curragh maiden look more like a Classic

Sisters to Churchill, Winter, Rhododendron and Gleneagles all entered

Churchill: his sister Clemmie is entered at the Curragh on Saturday

With both Newmarket Guineas winners preparing for their home versions at the Curragh this weekend, Aidan O'Brien has measured the cycles of excellence at his disposal by entering siblings to both for the 6f fillies' maiden opening Saturday's card (1.50).

Clemmie is the third foal out of the Storm Cat mare Meow, making her a sister to Churchill; while Snowflakes - also a third foal, out of Laddies Poker Two - is sister to Winter. O'Brien has also entered Magical, a sister to Rhododendron, runner-up to Winter at Newmarket and hot favourite for a Classic success of her own in the Investec Oaks next Friday.

Incredibly, the Ballydoyle trainer is also able to give an entry to a sister to a third Guineas winner in Happily. As a daughter of You'resothrilling, she is a sister to Gleneagles. All four, it goes without saying, are by Galileo. The Coolmore champion's arsenal for the race also include half-sisters to Group 1 winners Danedream and Tapestry, in Broadway and Flutter respectively.

On Sunday, moreover, the carousel moves on for O'Brien with another dazzling array of family trees clustering in an equivalent race for colts (1.50). Two of them, however, represent fresh blood to the operation.

As a Scat Daddy half-brother to champions Beholder and Into Mischief, Mendelssohn topped the Keeneland September Yearling Sale last year when selling to MV Magnier for $3 million.

Rostropovich meanwhile is half-brother by Frankel to Coolmore stallion Zoffany. He was bought by MV Magnier, Mayfair Speculators and Peter and Ross Doyle for 1,100,000gns as a yearling at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October last year.
