The first juvenile stakes winner of the French season on Wednesday became the latest wild card addition to the Goffs London Sale, which opens Royal Ascot week at the Kensington Palace Orangery on Monday.

Ardenode, winner of the Listed Prix La Fleche at Maisons-Laffitte last Saturday, will be sold with an entry for the Norfolk Stakes next Thursday.

The Hellvelyn colt was well bought by his trainer, Eoghan O'Neill, for just €15,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale. Already a dual winner, he is plainly worth rather more than that now.

"It was always a hope that we would have a horse good enough to send to the London Sale," O'Neill said. "This is a horse I think will suit both Hong Kong and America - as well as anyone wishing to keep him in training in Europe."

Ardenode will join Jamie Osborne's Armum and Joseph Murphy's Born To Play as wild cards, though another French colt, Mister Five Euros, has been scratched from the sale.
