Arrowfield mourns blonde bombshell dam of Not A Single Doubt
Singles Bar was also a half-sister to top sire Snippets
No doubt about it - Singles Bar, who has died at the age of 25, is guaranteed a lasting legacy.
The dam of Not A Single Doubt was pensioned five years ago and had in the meantime been enjoying a peaceful retirement at Arrowfield, where she will now join her half-brother Snippets in the stud cemetery.
Singles Bar was out of Easy Date by the Golden Slipper winner Rory's Jester and inherited his bright chestnut coat, along with the dash to be a stakes-placed winner at two. But that was just the icing on the cake, so far as her breeding potential was concerned, as Easy Date's son by Lunchtime had already lit up her page as a triple Group 1 winner.
Snippets would himself prove a significant influence at stud - not only as sire of 57 stakes winners but also as damsire of the mighty Snitzel. That alone would secure the family an indelible place in the Arrowfield story, but it has meanwhile been further embellished by champion two-year-old filly Forensics and Group 1 winners Rewaaya and Ertijaal.
Not A Single Doubt, the first stakes winner sired by Redoute's Choice, has meanwhile given particular celebrity to Singles Bar - not least through those of his stock, such as Karuta Queen and Miracles Of Life, that evoke her blonde-bombshell looks. Not A Single Doubt sired a 40th stakes winner when Doubt I'm Dreaming won at Moonee Valley last week.
Singles Bar produced seven other winners, including a brother to Not A Single Doubt in Rogano who is now making his own mark as a sire, while those who so cherished her at Arrowfield can be comforted that they retain daughters, granddaughters and even great-granddaughters to extend her influence.
