Arrowfield buys stake in top juvenile Pariah
Redoute's Choice colt will return to the stud where he was bred
Arrowfield Stud has acquired a 50 per cent share in Australia's highest-rated two-year-old colt, Pariah, along with standing rights for his future stud career.
The son of Redoute's Choice, bred and sold by Arrowfield, is out of the Hussonet mare Secluded, meaning he is bred on the same cross as Arrowfield's current resident Panzer Division. He was sourced by James Harron from the 2016 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for A$700,000.
Pariah has won one of his four career starts, the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes on debut, and finished runner-up to Catchy, beaten less than half a length, in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes on his penultimate outing.
Harron said: "I'm delighted to finalise arrangements for Pariah to join the Redoute's Choice stallion dynasty at Arrowfield. He's the complete package of physique, precocity, pedigree and performance, and I'm certain that what he has shown us as a two-year-old is only the beginning."
Arrowfield's chairman John Messara commented: "We're very pleased to secure Pariah as a high-class son of the sire of sires Redoute's Choice, and look forward to launching him on our roster alongside Australia's leading sire Snitzel and last season's leading active sire Not A Single Doubt, when his racing career is concluded.
"Arrowfield has achieved notable success with stallions we've bred and either sold and bought back, or raced before their stud careers. Golden Slipper winner and champion sire Flying Spur and brilliant Redoute's Choice sons Beneteau and Not A Single Doubt are all in that category.
"Like those horses, Pariah is among Australia's very best two-year-olds of his generation. He's also a sensational type, a three-quarter brother to Group 1 winner Melito and is bred on the Redoute's Choice - Hussonet cross which has left five Group winners from only ten foals."
Messara added: "Pariah is the only two- or three-year-old colt in Australia that clearly fits Arrowfield's prospective stallion model and I am thrilled we have secured him for future stallion duties."
