Sea The Moon has been making his mark with his early Flat progeny and there are signs are that he could sire formidable jumpers too with Allmankind providing a first graded National Hunt success in the JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle.

Lanwades Stud's German Derby winner landed his biggest prize as a stallion to date when his smart two-year-old filly Alpine Star took the Group 2 Debutante Stakes, while Wonderful Moon ran away with a Group 3 in Germany last weekend.

Dan Skelton saddled Sea The Moon's first jumps winner back in June with the US export Must See The Doc and the trainer was sent Allmankind by the Gredley family after he won once on the level for Michael Bell and reached a best RPR of 89.

A Stetchworth and Middle Park Studs homebred from the family of Irish Oaks winner Wemyss Bight, he bolted up on his hurdling debut at Warwick a few days ago and faced a far stronger challenge at Cheltenham in one of the best pointers towards the Festival.

Allmankind made all the running to score in good style, earning quotes of around 20-1 for the Triumph itself, although Skelton admitted that he is quite a handful to train.

"Tim (Gredley) said there was a point where they thought he could be not far off Derby standard as a two-year-old but he got keener and keener and keener," he said.

"I’m not going to call him fragile-minded but he is bull-headed. He's shown us what he can do, I wouldn’t be going out to show what he can’t do in a hurry. We’ll work back from March, I should imagine one race before then."
